PoINT
Archiving & Storage Management Software
PoINT Storage Manager is a universal storage management solution, which not only supports a combination of all contemporary mass storage technologies but also provides data migration functions for legacy storage hardware. The product was specifically designed for seamless data migration from obsolete storage systems such as MO jukeboxes to new systems employing state-of-the-art technologies such as Blu-ray Disc (BD), LTO Tape, NetApp Appliances and all hard disk based systems.
Over the past decade, long-term data storage and security requirements have exploded. In an effort to meet these storage demands, organizations deploy a diverse range of storage devices and technologies in a heterogeneous storage environment. Over time, certain storage components become obsolete, placing critical data at risk. Regulatory requirements combined with the risk of extensive financial damage have made data loss a serious threat to the future of any organization. The need to ensure data integrity, improve access speeds, address hardware support concerns and increase storage capacity requires regular migration of data from obsolete storage systems to contemporary ones. Carrying out the necessary data migration without data loss or access interruption is an immense challenge that if done manually can often waste hundreds of hours of IT staff time.
PoINT Storage Manager offers a comprehensive automated solution to meet the multiple challenges of backup, data migration to new technology and archiving of network data. The particular strength of this new management solution is the broad support of all existing and future storage technologies combined with the innovative PoINT Virtual File System (“PoINT VFS”), which integrates the existing storage systems for migration purposes. The well known PoINT Tiered Archive File System (“PoINT TAFS”), first developed in PoINT Archiver, completes this solution by providing network-wide HSM functionality.
PoINT software products integrate seamlessly with MDI NAS devices, DISC optical libraries and Rimage disc publishers.
